Highlights

NTNU NanoLab’s thin film area has been upgraded with investments in etching and thin-film deposition worth more than NOK 40 million. With generous funding through the Research Council of Norway Infrastructure program.

This secures critical research capabilities at NanoLab and NorFab for the next 12–15 years and expands the opportunities in etching to structures we could not fabricate before.

The Nordic Nanolab Network hosts its 2024 User Meeting at the University of Oslo, June 3-4.

As a user of NorFab, you are cordially invited to both attend and contribute with a poster at the meeting. This is a great opportunity to meet and learn from other researchers active in the Nordic cleanroom facilities.

The NorFab national infrastructure is linked to Nordic Nano Network and to EuroNanoLab.

The EuroNanolab Dry Etch Expert Group meeting organized in Sinaia, Romania 9-10 October, 2023 gathered 18 experts from 10 different European labs, and covered a broad range of topics, including Training, Hardware, Cleaning, Conditioning, and Processing. Discussions regarding tool sharing methodology continued with updates from the Oxford Pilot Group, Estrelas Group and Pegasus Group.

Researchers at NTNU are searching for materials that could be used to make Li-ion batteries with a higher energy density.

University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) hosted this year’s TNNN Conference at the campus in Vestfold on June 21st-23rd, 2023.

With the help of stem cells, we can now grow so-called organoids; a tiny little liver, a tiny heart or a small intestine in the lab. The micro-organ can then be connected to a microchip that simulates biological processes. This interconnection is called “organ-on-a-chip” and opens up unimaginable research possibilities.
