Tiny organs can now grow on a microchip – this gives us ground-breaking knowledge

With the help of stem cells, we can now grow so-called organoids; a tiny little liver, a tiny heart or a small intestine in the lab. The micro-organ can then be connected to a microchip that simulates biological processes. This interconnection is called “organ-on-a-chip” and opens up unimaginable research possibilities.
